Baby After 14 Years

I am Brother Osei. My wife is Sheila. We are members of the Worcester Central Assembly of the Church of Pentecost in Massachusetts. In 2003 our then District Pastor, Rev. Samuel Arthur visited with us at our home. Before the end of his visit, he asked us if we had any special prayer request he could pray about. It was eleven years in our marriage and we had no child. After Pastor Arthur prayed for us he said before he is transferred to any other city, god would enable my wife Sheila to give birth. Meanwhile we did not ignore legitimate medical means to alleviate the anguish of childlessness. In 2002 Sheila’s doctors detected she had (L) para-tubal cyst, blocked (L) (R) fallopian tubes and endometriosis. Diagnosis was infertility. From 2002 to 2005 Sheila had five expensive IVFs, in-vitro fertilization, but without success. On August 12, 2005 they administered another in-vitro in Boston IVF, Wharton. We went and checked up on it August 15. As usual this medical attempt also failed. We informed Pastor Arthur. On September 8, 2005, he visited with us again and prayed gain that the Almighty God intervenes. In mid-October 2005, Sheila had another appointment with her OB&G specialist at Worcester Memorial Hospital. They found she was seven weeks pregnant. Due to her previous IVF visits, the hospital suspected that her pregnancy was within the tubes. They swiftly assembled a team of ten to verify the situation on her. Their fear was negative, and by the grace of God Sheila was okay, it was a normal pregnancy. God protected her throughout the nine months of pregnancy and she gave birth to our first born, Nysha in June 2006. We have been so happy since Sheila delivered our bouncing bay girl. What a mighty God we serve!!

Attacked by Gunmen, but God intervenes
By Nana Sarfo Ampong, Chicago Assembly

Friday October 19, 2007 I left my apartment at 6:05am. I was on my way to work and I had to catch a bus down the street. I live by 77th Street and Laflin in Chicago. I emerged out of our street side door and had barely crossed over to the other side of the street when I noticed a young man coming close by me. “Sit down” he yelled at me. Within a split second I felt the pressure of a pistol nozzle piercing the temple of my head. As I sat on the pavement, two other young men closed in. One of them booted me in the groin. The impact flattened me on the ground with my face up and the pistol thrust in my head still. “You want to see my face?” blurted the pistol man. “Turn your face down!” he commanded. I obeyed. They stripped me of my pants and shoes. In pain my and face nose dug into the hard surface as the pistol shoved menacingly into the back of my head. Pretty soon, I felt the pressure of the pistol was off my head and silence around. I surreptitiously turned mu back to look around. My assailants were gone. I scampered back home in my long johns, blistering in the fall winds. The time now was 6:15am Given that it took me two minutes from home to the spot of the incidents and another two minutes to get back, my close shave with death drama happened within a swift span of about six minutes. My next birthday was only two days away. Gone with my shoes and pants was my wallet containing my state ID, debit card and cash of seventy dollars. But I had my life. I am so grateful to God they did not kill me. Life can be so short but our dear lord Jesus delivered me from the jaws of death. “What shall I render to the lord for all he has done for me? I’ll take up the cup of salvation ad call upon the name of the Lord,” Psalm 116:13.
